EWOSA prepares to take on complaints about REPS activity providers

As Australia’s energy market evolves, so do we.

We’ve updated our Constitution so new types of providers can become members of our scheme. This includes third-party contractors that sit outside the traditional electricity, gas, and water categories.

This change follows updates to the Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS) Code. From 1 January 2026, third-party REPS activity providers will be required to join an independent dispute resolution scheme. Our updated Constitution makes that possible.

What is REPS?

REPS helps South Australians save energy and reduce costs. Through the scheme, households can access discounted, energy-efficient products such as air conditioners, water heaters, and LED lamps.

To see what you may be eligible for, visit the Essential Services Commission of South Australia (ESCOSA) website and contact one of the listed REPS activity providers.

How we can help

From 1 January 2026, if you have a problem with your REPS upgrade and cannot resolve it with the activity provider, you can bring your complaint to us.

We will be able to help with issues such as misleading marketing, breaches of terms and conditions, and unclear information.

If your concern is about the product itself, you will need to contact Consumer and Business Services.

The future looks bright

Updating our Constitution enables us to take REPS-related complaints, but it also does more than that.

It prepares us for a future where new types of energy providers enter the market. As the sector becomes more diverse, we are making sure our scheme stays accessible and adaptable. These changes position us to support consumers and work effectively with industry as the energy landscape continues to shift.
