The Privacy Act 1988 sets out the ways in which your energy and water suppliers may collect, use and give out personal information such as your name, address or account number. The Privacy Act also allows you to access your personal information kept by suppliers and to correct any errors.
The Energy and Water Ombudsman SA is recognised as an external dispute resolution scheme (“EDR”) to handle privacy related complaints under the Privacy Act 1988. If you would like to make a complaint against a supplier about privacy related matters, debt collection or credit default listing, please contact your supplier in the first instance.
